This is the last week of the course. I have to say that participating in this program allowed me to extend my knowledge about emerging technologies on the web.
Social networking can be used in all aspects of modern life.
I find the course very interesting and enjoyed doing it.
Thankyou

Week #12 – Mashups

I think that mashups are a great inventions. They can be used with with providing a service giving the end user a more customised, familiar and easy to implement interface. I frequently use Google Maps finding them very user friendly. The 'sky' option in the Google Maps API is great.

Other mashups examples are:
Map application integrating all the homes for sale in a region and plot their location on a map. Clicking on a specific pushpin location brings up information on that particular home.
With Mashups you can listen to new hybrid music versions that are a combination of a couple of different songs.

Week #11 – Podcasts and audio

I searched OCLS Podcasts site. The newest entry was posted yewsterday. it is entitled: How to Build a Paper Rocket (Video)
Lt. Col. John Lynn, director of Aerospace Education for the State of Florida, teaches Orange County Library System patrons how to easily build a paper rocket.
I think podcasting is a very convenient way of catching up with variety of information and downloading them to your computer.

Week 10: Answer boards and social searching

Today I visited the Answer Board Librarians wiki. I found few interesteng questions in “Exemplary Answers” section. The answers are well rated.
I posted a on Yahoo!7 Answers. It would be interesting how soon i will get an answer.

Week #8 – Tagging, folksonomies, delicious and LibraryThing

Today I have subscribed to del.icio.us., and I had fun with adding my own bookmarks. I think del.icio.us is a very handy tool for keeping up with the subjects of interest. I intend to us it a lot.
I explored Technorati and did a few searches. A general search for "bookmobile" found 288 results. An advanced search for the EXACT phrase "bookmobile" in all blogs displayed 292 results.
Search for "state library of nsw 2008" found 33 results.
I found the Library Thing to be an excellent web site listing over thirty million books.
